നമ്പൂരി ഫലിതങ്ങള്‍ !!

സിനിമാപോസ്റ്ററിലേക്ക്‌ നോക്കി ശൃംഗാരച്ചിരി ചിരിക്കുന്ന നമ്പൂരിയോട്‌ ഞാന്‍ ചോദിച്ചു: "എന്താ...തിരുമേനീ...പോസ്റ്ററില്‍ നോക്കി വല്ലാത്തൊരു ചിരി?" ഒന്നും പറയാതെ നമ്പൂരി അപ്പോഴും ചിരിച്ചു. "ഈ പോസ്റ്ററില്‍ ചിരിക്കാന്‍ മാത്രം എന്താ?" ഞാന്‍ വീണ്ടും ചോദിച്ചു. "തന്റെ കണ്ണ്‍ എവിട്യാ.?ഒന്നൂടെ വായിച്ചു നോക്ക്യേ?" "ഇവര്‍ വിവാഹിതരായാല്‍" "ങാ....അതിനടിയില്‍ എഴുതിയത്‌ കണ്ടില്ലേ?" ഞാന്‍ ഒന്നുകൂടി വായിച്ചു "ഇവര്‍ വിവാഹിതരായാല്‍ കൊണ്ടോട്ടി കവിതയില്‍ ദിവസേന മൂന്ന് കളികള്‍!!" Kerala Kalamandalam !!

Kerala Kalamandalam can rightly be considered as the cradle of Kathakali training. Established by the great Malayali poet, Vallathol Narayana Menon, Kalamandalam also provides specialised training in various other art forms apart from Kathakali. Students can avail of specialised training from experts in artforms such as Mohiniyattam, Koodiyattam, Thullal and Nangiarkoothu. Advanced training, both in vocal and percussion instruments too is imparted here. Yet another unique feature of this school is that trasining is offered under strict adherence to the basic principles of the particular artform. Kalamandalam houses the only Koothambalam that has been built outside a temple premise in Kerala.  Koothambalam, the dance theatre, is supported by four wooden pillars. It is 14.62 meters in length and 7.31 meters in width. There are three main parts, namely, aniyara , rangam and mridanga-patha. Aniyara is the green room, rangam is the stage and mridanga-patha is the place where the drum is kept.

Kerala Kalamandalam was set up to revive the lost interst in Kathakali by popularising the art form among all sections of society.

Vallathol Nagar in Cheruthuruthy where Kerala Kalamandalam has been set up is about ten kilonmeters from Shornur. Nearest airport is Nedumbassery International Airport.
