ചെത്തല്ലൂർ തെക്കുംമുറി  പെരുമ്പാലപാറയ്ക്ക് സമീപം മാനഞ്ചേരി വീട്ടിൽ  ബാലകൃഷ്ണൻ (73) ഇത്തവണത്തെ ഓണത്തിന്  ഓണവില്ലുകൾ  നിർമ്മിച്ചു.

മുത്തശ്ശൻ ഓണകാലത്ത്  ഉണ്ടാക്കി പഴയ തറവാടുകളിലേക്ക് നൽകിയിരിന്നു.

പൂർവ്വികരിൽ നിന്ന തനിക്കു കിട്ടിയ  അറിവിലൂടെയാണ് ഓണവില്ല് 

തയ്യാറാക്കി യിരിക്കുന്നത്.

മാസങ്ങളായി തുടങ്ങിയ പണിപ്പുരയിൽ കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസമാണ് പണി പൂർത്തിയായത്.

ഈർമ്പന, മുള, തെങ്ങ്, കമുക് എന്നിവയുടെ പട്ടികയാണ് ഓണവില്ലിന്റെ പാത്തിയുണ്ടാക്കാൻ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്. ബലത്തിൽ വളച്ചുനിർത്തുന്ന പാത്തിയിൽ ഞാൺ അതിന്റെ അറ്റത്തെ 

രണ്ട് കുടകളുപയോഗിച്ച് വലിവോടെ നിർത്തുന്നു. ഒരുകോലും എട്ട് വിരലുമാണ് ഓണവില്ലുകളുടെ നീളം. ഏഴ് ഓണവില്ലുകളാണ് ബാലകൃഷ്ണൻ നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.

കോങ്ങാട്ടുള്ള  ബിജു തെക്കൻ പാട്ടിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ഡിസംബറിൽ നടക്കുന്ന ഒരു കുടുംബ സംഗമത്തിൽ നടത്തുന്ന 

വില്ലിന്മേൽ തായമ്പക

അവതരിപ്പിക്കാൻ വേണ്ടിയാണ് 

20 വർഷത്തിന് ശേഷം ആദ്യമായി വില്ലുകൾ തയ്യാറാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന ബാലകൃഷ്ണൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

ഇടത്തേ കൈകൊണ്ട് മാറോടു ചേർത്തുപിടിച്ച് മറ്റേ കൈകൊണ്ട് മാത്രമേ ഇത് കൊട്ടാൻ പറ്റൂ എന്നതിനാൽ അഭ്യസിക്കാൻ ഏറെ വിഷമമുള്ള വാദ്യോപകരണമാണിത്.

പണ്ടുകാലങ്ങളിൽ ആയുധമായി ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്ന അമ്പും വില്ലുമായി ഇതിനു കാഴ്ച്ചയിൽ നല്ല സാമ്യമുണ്ട്.

കമുകിന്റെ പാത്തിയിൽ മുളകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഞാൺ വലിച്ചു വച്ചാണ് ഇത് നിർമിക്കുന്നത്. അതിൽ മുളങ്കോൽ കൊണ്ട് അടിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഇമ്പമാർന്ന ശബ്ദം കേൾക്കും.

കൈവഴക്ക്മുള്ളവർ കൊട്ടിയാൽ ശ്രവണമധുരമായ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ ആസ്വാദ്യങ്ങളായ താളങ്ങൾ സൃഷ്ടിക്കാൻ കെല്പുള്ള തന്തി വാദ്യമാണ്‌ വില്ലുകൾ.

വർഷങ്ങൾക്കുശേഷം ഓണവില്ല്  ഉണ്ടാക്കാൻ കിട്ടിയ അവസരം ഭാഗ്യമായാണ്  കരുതുന്നത്. കൂടാതെ അന്യംനിന്നുപോകുന്ന പല ആചാരങ്ങളും തന്റെ കൈകളിലൂടെ പുനരാവിഷ്കരിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞതിൽ അതിയായ സന്തോഷമുണ്ട്  ബാലകൃഷ്ണൻ പറഞ്ഞു. 

മണ്ണ് കുഴച്ചു നിർമിക്കുന്ന മാതേരുകൾ ചാണകം മെഴുകിയ മുറ്റത്തു അരിമാവുകൊണ്ടു അണിഞ്ഞു പൂരാടദിവസം ഭംഗിയാക്കിയ ഒരു പീഠത്തിൽ ഇരുത്തും തുടർന്ന്  ഓണവില്ല് കൊട്ടിയാണ് മഹാദേവരെ തുയിലുണർത്തുന്നത്.

ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ആദ്യത്തെ വില്ല് അത്തിപ്പറ്റ മനയിലെ നാരായണൻ നമ്പൂതിരിക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം സമർപ്പിച്ചു.

Marthanda Varma the maker of Modern Travancore annexed Perakathazhvazhi into Travancore and adopted four princesses from perakathazhvazhi to Travancore. After that the palace became part of Travancore.

Inside this Koyikkal palace Folklore museum ( first one in kerala) and a Numismatics museums are there. Chandravalayam and Nanthuni are very rare musical instruments, which we can see now only in this Koyikkal palace.
